In-Studio Covid-19 Policy

April 4, 2022.  Our Covid policy requires that all students and parents must wear masks while in the studio. Only one parent and student(s) from each family will be allowed in the studio at a time. Our goal is to prevent the spread of the virus and prevent needless illness or the need to quarantine, particularly for young students who are not yet vaccinated.

We ask that parents and students experiencing Covid symptoms or symptoms of flu, cold, and/or cough, to please remain home. An online lesson can be scheduled instead, if appropriate.

If a parent or student has been exposed to Covid, even if vaccinated or recently had Covid, and, even if no symptoms develop, please get tested at least 5 days after you last had close contact with someone with COVID-19. Please schedule an online lesson until you've received a negative test result. See the CDC Info page for more details on when to test and quarantine.

COVID-19 UPDATES

Updated 4/4/2022 2:45pm

We're happy to share that the studio is now open for in-person lessons. Online lessons will also be available for those students who would prefer remote instruction, or as an alternative to in studio when needed. Our Covid policy requires that all students and parents wear masks while in the studio. Only one parent and student(s) from each family will be allowed in the studio at a time. This policy will remain in place for the foreseeable future. We're looking forward to a busy spring and summer of in studio learning!

The Delta variant delayed our plans to open fully to in person learning this fall. We continue to offer online lessons with the hope of offering in person lessons in the first quarter of next year. We are being cautious as lessons are given in a private home. We continue to be guided by safety policies based on CDC and Washington State and local public health information about our community.

We expect to open the studio to in-person lessons beginning this fall. We are now accepting new student registration for fall classes. The instructor and all household members are fully vaccinated. However, we expect that there will be a mix of vaccinated and unvaccinated students and visitors to the studio, so we will implement safety policies based on CDC and Washington State guidelines to ensure safety and comfort for everyone. These will include masks to be worn in the studio at all times and limiting the number of occupants in the studio. We will provide more details as fall nears. We anticipate that lesson slots will fill fast. We recommend reserving fall lesson times now. In the meantime, if you have not already, go get vaccinated and encourage others to do the same. Stay safe and enjoy the summer!!

It's exciting to see the pace of vaccinations in the State of Washington accelerate. As of this update, WA Covid19 Vaccine Phases 1A (Tiers 1 and 2) through 1B (Tier 1) are currently in progress, with nearly 44,000 Washingtonians vaccinated each day! We are hopeful that at this continued pace, it will be feasible to safely open for in-person lessons in the coming fall. We will also continue to offer online lessons to give students and families a choice, as we understand that many existing students have built family schedules around the convenience of online lessons. We'll continue to add updates as needed. In the meantime, if you're waiting your turn for vaccination, remember to social distance. Avoid crowded events. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. And if you've received your vaccination, congratulations! And remember to continue to wear a mask in public to reduce the slight risk of spreading the virus and as a signal to unvaccinated folks to keep wearing theirs. Stay safe!!

Our studio remains online only at this time. However, we anticipate a gradual transition to a full schedule of in-person instruction as vaccines are distributed more widely into the late spring and early summer. We will post additional updates and details as the vaccine distribution continues to ramp up. We are optimistic about the prospect of resuming in-studio lessons with some safety measures in place sometime in the first half of 2021.

In the meantime, remember to social distance. Avoid crowded events. Wear a mask. Wash your hands.

We continue to follow Governor Inslee's orders for social distancing by limiting instruction to online only for the foreseeable future, including during at least the first half of the 2020-2021 school year. Currently the lowest risk approach to teaching and learning piano for students, families and instructor remains online instruction. This policy will be revisited regularly as new information about Covid-19 develops.

Remember to social distance. Wear a mask. Wash your hands.

Governor Inslee issued a Stay Home order to all Washington State residents on March 23rd and ordered the closure of all non-essential businesses. We will maintain our current studio closure for all in-person lessons to support this vital measure to keep our students and families healthy and safe. Beginning next week, we will be providing live online video lessons for current and new students. We will follow the guidelines issued by Governor Inslee to determine the duration of our in-person closure.  For more information on the temporary in-person studio closure or to set up video lessons, please call 509-455-7061.

Each of us can take simple and consistent action to protect our community, neighbors and loved ones by practicing physical distancing, washing hands, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home when sick.
